The A1 Group acquires Staysure Tyres Ltd
The A1 Group completed the acquisition of Staysure Tyres Ltd based in Wokingham, Berkshire on 31st March 2023 adding another facet to A1’s growing family of companies.
The Metal Recycling & Car Spares division of the A1 Group operates predominately from its full-service metal recycling plant in Wokingham and offers both commercial & domestic metal recycling, second hand car parts, engine, and vehicle parts export plus part-worn tyres from their onsite tyre bay. The purchase of Staysure Tyres Ltd gives The Group the ability to further push their tyre sales business with a focus on brand new tyres for Trucks, Plant, Earthmovers, Agricultural Vehicles and Cars. As well as a Tyre workshop on Langley Common Road, Wokingham, Staysure also owns a fleet of Tyre servicing and repair vehicles offering 24 hour call-outs across the South East of England.
Established in 1986 by Paul Smith and Paul Felton, Staysure has become a leading local name for Tyre services and benefits from many long term domestic and commercials customers. The business currently employs 14 staff and has a fleet of 10 vehicles.

Having lived and worked in Wokingham all my life, I have known Staysure and its former owners as long as I can remember. We were also a regular customer of Staysure as our own fleet of vehicles expanded. When we were approached to buy the company, it made total business sense and we were thrilled at the opportunity to acquire such an established and well performing business
Mark Russell, newly appointed Director of Staysure Tyres Ltd and his team are keen to reassure existing customers of Staysure Tyres Ltd that it will be business as usual following the announcement. Mark, who also runs the Tyre Department in the main A1 Group depot is at the forefront of the acquisition and will be running Staysure along with overseeing the current part-worn tyre business. The A1 Group began as a pig farm back in the 1960’s and has evolved and grown to become a multi-functioning Group of Companies incorporating A1 Wokingham Car Spares & Metal Recycling, A1 Loo Hire Ltd, A1 Wet Waste Ltd & A1 Group Transport Ltd .
