Movember Fundraising
The A1 Group raises £2034 for Movember!
On Thursday 30th October, A1 depots across the country took part in the Movember!
It was great to see so many staff and customers (men and woman!) support a great cause. We held a number of fundraising activities across the depots including various bake sales, quizzes and sweepstakes! We wanted the day to feel really memorable and we couldn’t resist some moustache balloons to bring the depots to life! After a final count up we can confirm we managed to raise an incredible £1017 for Movember! which is a testament to the generosity of our staff and customers. A1 Group has then matched this, making the grand total £2034
Our Wokingham based metal recycling facility along with its car spares department is a hive of activity with customers coming and going throughout the day – the generosity of the customers was overwhelming from purchasing baked goods to joining in with all the games on site.
The photos of our staff members with their moustaches on are priceless! It was great to see so many of the A1 staff get together for a day of fundraising and we really hope everyone enjoyed the day.
About Movember
Movember is an annual event that takes place during the month of November, focusing on raising awareness about men's health issues, particularly prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. The campaign encourages men to grow mustaches throughout November to spark conversations and raise funds for research, education, and support programs.
The Movember Foundation, established in 2003 in Australia, has grown into a global movement, encouraging men to take charge of their health by being proactive about regular check-ups and discussions regarding their well-being. It aims to break stigmas surrounding men's health and promote early detection and effective treatment.
Apart from mustache-growing, Movember also includes various events, fundraisers, and initiatives worldwide to engage people in supporting the cause. It's been a significant force in encouraging men to prioritize their health and well-being.
The Mo community has helped to raise over £10million so far in the UK, with more donations still coming in.
We must also say a HUGE thank you to everyone that supported us on the day, all donations however big or small have gone to a great cause!
